About the project

Grosvenor Britain and Ireland and 2-3 degrees initiated the Mayfair Youth Forum to inform ongoing changes to this part of London and ensure young people’s voices are heard. A particular focus has been the future of Grosvenor Square and it’s new landscaping.

MATT+FIONA supported the 14-18 year olds in the forum to design new seating for Grosvenor Square as part of the wider initiative. Designer-maker Joseph Hazelwood-Horner collaborated with them throughout the design journey and ultimately made the seating to their design. The Forum helped install the seating in August where it remained throughout the summer. It has now moved to a Forest School in Bedford Square.

The seating is made from lime wood, locally sourced from fallen trees in Uxbridge by Saunders Seasoning.
