attRAct is a free, year-long online programme designed to encourage young people to think and talk critically about art and the creative industries.
The programme includes online specialist practical workshops and group discussions, one-to-one and group tutorials, career and portfolio advice sessions and work experience placements led by professionals in the field which help to guide and support young people wishing to pursue a career in the arts, architecture and the wider cultural sector.
MATT + FIONA were invited to host a workshop focussing on architecture. Our workshop was based around exploring the exhibition of Antony Gormley at the Royal Academy thinking about the body in space. Initially responding to the exhibition the young people completed a large scale collaborative drawing that encompassed the entire attRAct studio floor. They then moved from 2 dimensions to 3 by cutting and lifting parts of the drawing, and connecting them to a hanging system of ropes above.
Throughout the day the drawing transformed from a flat surface, to a rich spatial intervention.
