LEARN
Our BUILD projects are tangible demonstrations of how young people can make a positive contribution to shaping better places and shapes. But perhaps the most important outcome of this process is educational: transforming mindsets, and raising ambitions and aspirations. We call this process LEARN.
We want to enable more young people to be confident about influencing and shaping their built environment.
We do this in two ways: building capacity through resources and training mainly for schools, colleges and universities, cultural collaborators and local authorities; and, in the longer term, creating meaningful pathways for young people’s future careers.
Our MATT+FIONA LEARN programmes include:
- ‘Training the Trainer’: workshops and CPD sessions for teachers, youth workers and students, sharing the years of experience and knowledge we have acquired through developing the Build model.
- Extended Learning: lesson plans, resources and toolkits that enable teachers to deliver their own build projects independently, complementing ‘Training the Trainer’ workshops.
- Apprenticeships and Certification: creating longer-term pathways into the built environment, design and construction industries for those young people who discover their calling during a build project.
