Free School Workshops
Calling all Key Stage 2 Primary School Teachers!
We are developing free workshops for Key Stage 2 teachers and their students, thanks to funding from the Happold Foundation.
We want to understand what type of programme would be most beneficial to you, so we really want to hear from you.
To share your thoughts on how we can support you to explore architecture and the built environment with your Key Stage 2 students, we would be grateful if you could complete this form.
Why are we developing this schools programme?
Benefits of exploring architecture for your students
- Understanding the real world value of many subjects across the curriculum including Maths, Geography, History and Art & Design
- Co-design projects with a creative output encourage a sense of pride in their achievements
- Raised aspirations and confidence from collaborating with each other and their teachers towards a shared goal
- New ability to respond to the built environment and community around them, and to process this understanding
- New skills development (oracy, dexterity, making, imagining, presenting)
- The informed and confident position to choose school subjects that align with pursuing a career in the built environment industries if of interest
Benefits for teachers
- A new way to inspire your students about the area where they live
- Different ways to bring to life subjects across the curriculum
- Greater knowledge about changes happening in the local area and a greater sense the school community are involved
What will happen next?
Schools in several chosen regions will be invited to take part in the free pilot workshop in the 2024-25 academic year. There will then be a wider roll out the following year for more schools.
A free, open-source resource will also be created and made available for all KS2 teachers and their students.
